Department of Orthopedics, Traumatology and Spine Surgery

Prof. Dr. Christoph Rangger has headed the Department of Orthopedics, Traumatology and Spine Surgery at the Hospital Nordwest since 2006. Under his leadership, the Department has developed new concepts not only in the field of medical services, but also in the training of students within the academic teaching hospital and in the professional training / retraining of specialists. 

The Department of Orthopedics, Traumatology and Spine Surgery at the Hospital Nordwest treats all diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system. The treatment of emergency patients involves the use of all modern methods of osteosynthesis of bones, joints, pelvis and spine. There are available conservative and surgical concepts of treatment for muscles, tendons and ligaments. In cooperation with the Departments of Neurosurgery and Vascular Surgery, there is provided the treatment of disorders of nerves and blood vessels.   

The orthopedic spectrum of the Hospital Nordwest includes the treatment of arthrosis with an option to replace all large joints, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired pathologies, the treatment of orthopedic diseases of the hand and foot. Moreover, there is a specialized outpatient counseling on orthopedics and traumatology.      

In the treatment of the spine, the Department under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Christoph Rangger offers the diagnosis, conservative and surgical treatment methods for acute and chronic diseases.
