Department of General, Abdominal and Transplant Surgery
Clinic for general, abdominal and transplant surgery at the Medical University of Hanover offers comprehensive care for surgical treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the entire abdominal cavity. The main areas are surgery of the pancreas, stomach surgery, surgery of the liver, biliary tract/gall bladder, surgery of the small intestine and colon, laparoscopic surgery, endocrine surgery, hernia surgery, internal peritonectomy resection and transplantation of organs, namely liver, kidneys and pancreas.

Orthopedic Clinic at the Medical University in Hanover in St. Anne Foundation is one of the largest and most prestigious orthopedic clinics in Germany. The spectrum of services of the clinic of urology and urologic oncology covers all possible aspects of urology within all partial areas of the subject and the aspects, which today are considered appropriate for optimum patient care in accordance with the current state of medicine in terms of optimizing the quality of care. The optimal treatment of seriously ill patients can only be administered in a large hospital, such as IUH, since many surgical procedures require close collaboration between urologists and experts in the other areas of cardiac and vascular or plastic surgery.

The clinic of gastroenterology, hepatology and endocrinology offers both outpatient and inpatient treatment. Department of Hematology, Hemostaseology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation
The clinic of hematology, hemostasis, oncology and stem cell transplantation is a leading therapeutic clinic of the Medical Institute of Hannover for patients with solid tumor and systemic diseases, with other partially benign diseases of the hematopoietic system, as well as bleeding disorders. In view of the demographic development and medical progress, the importance of this trend is increasing, so the department expanded in recent years, respectively.
Department of Cardiology and Angiology
The main focus of the cardiology and angiology clinic is clinical treatment, as well as experimental and clinical studies of acute myocardial infarction, chronic heart failure, arteriosclerosis and heart rhythm abnormalities. The interdisciplinary focus is represented by cardiomyopathy in pregnant women and, in particular, peripartum cardiomyopathy.
Department of Pulmonology
Pulmonology clinic deals with all diseases of the lungs and airways. Any patient will find the best care here, be it chronic or acute form of lung disease. The clinic is one of the world's largest centers for lung transplantation. Since 1987 (as of March 2014), it conducted 1.747 lung transplants, both unilateral and bilateral, it now performs 120 to 140 surgeries every year. Since 2011, the survival rate during three months after lung transplantation exceeds 93 percent.

Department of Neurosurgery
The neurosurgery clinic performs the full range of comprehensive treatments for diseases of the nervous system using the most advanced endoscopic microneurosurgical, stereotactic and invasive treatments. The main directions include the functional neurosurgery, skull base surgery and spine surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, craniocerebral trauma surgery and pain surgery. During the post-operative care, the individual rehabilitation measures are coordinated and, when required, an oncological or subsequent radiotherapy treatment is conducted.
Department of Neurology
The clinic provides a full range of treatments for acute and chronic neurological diseases, both in outpatient and inpatient setting. A particular professionalism is shown in the treatment of patients with cerebrovascular diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and muscle disorders (the main specialization of the Department of prof. Dr. S. Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
The spectrum of the clinic activity includes modern methods of dental surgery, in particular all techniques and methods to restore the lost bone material of the jaw, as well as preparatory measures for dental implant. The main focus of the clinic is the treatment of patients in all areas of dentistry and maxillofacial trauma, the complex treatment of cleft lip and palate and other congenital or acquired malformations of the face, benign and malignant tumors of the mouth, jaw and face, as well as inflammatory diseases.
Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics
The clinic of obstetrics and gynecology offers a maximum range of services in the field of gynecology and obstetrics. The treatment includes gynecological cancer, gynecological dysplasia, operative gynecology, reconstructive microsurgery, obstetrics, family-oriented maternity hospital. To provide the optimal care and comfort to patients, the clinic combines the treatment and research. Due to the centralized structure and available offers, the patient can find the experts required for direct medical diagnostics, therapy and follow-up care, as well as psychosocial countseling and care, all in the same room at the Medical University of Hannover.
Department of Dermatology, Allergology and Venereology
The clinic of dermatology, allergology and venereology is one of the largest institutions of its kind in Germany. In 2014, the dermatology clinic for 55 beds (departments No. 41 and No. 86) and 25 partially inpatient treatment sites (DTK department) provided a full inpatient treatment to more than 2,200 patients, and partial hospital care to more than 6,000 persons. The outpatient care was provided to more than 10,000 patients (at the University outpatient clinic, emergency room and private clinic). The main directions of the clinical treatment are the inflammatory skin diseases (immune dermatology), allergy of the skin and mucosa and dermatooncology.
MUH breast center is the central institution for diagnostics and treatment of breast diseases. A particular attention is paid to breast cancer. We offer the concept of holistic care to women, as well as men with breast cancer. Our high professional competence is tested and certified by independent experts according to the evaluation criteria of the German Society of Cancers, German Society for Senology (breast disease) and in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001.
Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology
Within the framework of the activities of the Certified Cancer Center at the Department of Oncology and Hematology the treatment of cancer and diseases of the hematopoietic system using the most modern treatment methods is introduced. The examinations in the field of tumor immunology are carried out and new therapy methods in clinical trials are provided here at the Department.
Professional services of the Department include:

• High dose chemotherapy with stem cell transplantation
• Experimental therapy methods in clinical trials. For this purpose, there exists a close cooperation with our Department of Clinical Research
