The Department of Neurology at the Hospital Nordwest treats patients with brain and spinal cord diseases of all kinds, as well as diseases of nerves and muscles. The Stroke Unit has 8 beds, the Intensive Care Unit has 4 beds and the specialized Neurological Intensive Care Unit includes 8 beds. Chief physician of the Department is Prof. Dr. med. Uta Meyding-Lamadé.

The Department under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Uta Meyding-Lamadé specializes in the treatment of acute stroke, care of patients with impaired consciousness, inflammations of the nervous system, autoimmune diseases of the nervous system, especially multiple sclerosis, as well as neuromuscular diseases, such as myasthenia gravis. In collaboration with the Department of Traumatology and Spine Surgery of the Hospital Nordwest, there can be provided the required limited (neuro)surgical treatment, for example, in case of a large intracranial hematoma and diseases of the intervertebral discs. 

To carry out special neurological examinations, the Hospital Nordwest has its private CSF Laboratory, Neurophysiology Laboratory (EEG, EP, NLG, EMG) and Doppler Ultrasound Laboratory. 

The main treatment focuses of the Department of Neurology at the Hospital Nordwest under the direction of Prof. Uta Meyding-Lamadé are:
