In the Lucerne Oncology Centre, the patients will be managed by an interdisciplinary team consisting of oncologists and nurses trained in oncology.
The clinic for Oncology provide the patients with a wide spectrum in diagnosis, advice and treatment for the following illnesses: tumor of the breast, lungs and gastrointestinal tract, gynecological tumors, tumors of the prostate, testes and urinary tract, tumors of the ear, nose and throat, brain tumors, skin tumors, hematological and lymphatic tumors such as lymphomas, multiple myeloma, leukemia, anemia and myeloproliferative disorders.
The best possible therapeutic outcome is achieved by close cooperation between a network of various specialists in the treatment of tumours and the patient's own doctor. Another important aspect of therapeutic planning is to take seriously the personality, individual lifestyle and wishes of each patient. Factors such as age, other illnesses, the social environment and the course of the individual illness should all be taken into account.
