Dr. med.

Dirk Heinicke

Specialized in: pediatrics, orthopedics

Orthopedics treats children and adolescents with chronic diseases of the skeleton and the supporting structures as well as acute inflammatory or accident-related damage. All patients are age specific housed on wards where mostly children and adolescents with movement disorders are treated. The goal of rehabilitation is that occurring malfunctions can be eliminated or reduced by the chronic or acute diseases. For infants and young children up to 8 years with orthopedic disorders, the clinic also provides for the possibility of having an accompanying person who is trained specifically in the course of rehabilitation.

The clinic has particularly opportunities for close interdisciplinary cooperation with neurological complications, which often occur in acute trauma injuries (z. B. lesions of the peripheral nervous system). These can be used in both diagnostical and therapeutical fields.

Medical Competence:

  • Acute trauma disorders
    • Fractures (broken bones)
    • Dislocations (sprains)
    • Rupture of ligaments (rupture of ligaments, such as the knee)
    • Inflammatory diseases of the bone
  • Chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system
    • Scoliosis (spine twists)
    • Posture disorders
    • Genetic (inherited) diseases of the bone and connective tissue (z. B. osteogenesis imperfecta)
