The Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery at the Klinikum Nürnberg, headed by Prof. Dr. Bert Reichert, offers the entire spectrum of medical services ranging from reconstructive surgery up to hand surgery, aesthetic surgery and burn surgery. Due to the cutting edge microsurgical techniques, the treatment of consequences of accidents, cancer surgery and developmental defects is possible. However, a particular attention is paid to the sparing treatment of tissues.

The priority areas of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery at the Klinikum Nürnberg, headed by Prof. Dr. Bert Reichert, are surgical removal of malignant tumors of the extremities as well as the following reconstruction and rehabilitation of the female breast after the amputation due to cancer. Furthermore, the preference is given to the use of patient’s own tissues.

The Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery at the Klinikum Nürnberg, headed by Prof. Dr. Bert Reichert, provides treatment to 60 inpatients every year. The most frequent cancers are basal cell, squamous cell and breast cancers. However, the Department deals with the treatment of rare cancers, such as cancroids or soft tissue sarcoma. The peculiarity of the Department lies in the organ-preserving resection in case of soft tissue sarcoma.

The Department offers all common techniques and methods as well, for example, microsurgery, laser surgery and endoscopy.

Patients rooms

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
