The Department of Тraumatology, Orthopedic Surgery at the Klinikum Nürnberg Süd, headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Hermann Josef Bail, covers the entire spectrum of Sports Orthopaedics and Sports Traumatology. As a regional centre for the treatment of joint diseases, the Department offers a comprehensive and customized treatment concept from diagnosis to an early rehabilitation.

The Department of Тraumatology, Orthopedic Surgery at the Klinikum Nürnberg Süd, headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Hermann Josef Bail, has over 91 beds and treats 3,850 inpatients every year. The Department carries out all kinds of emergency trauma operations, thus providing the whole range of Traumatology, Sports Traumatology and endoprosthesis replacement of the shoulder, hip and knee joints. Annually, the Department provides surgical treatment to 40 patients with oncology. These are mainly bone metastases in a case of breast, kidney and lung cancer but also rarer tumors, such as malignant fibrous histiocytoma, chondrosarcoma, synovial sarcoma or liposarcoma. In a case of metastases in the spine, there are used innovative methods, such as kyphoplasty. The doctors of the Department regularly participate in the interdisciplinary oncology consultations of the Klinikum Nürnberg Süd.

The German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU) and DIOcert (Certification Society) certified the Department of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Surgery at the Klinikum Nürnberg Süd, headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Hermann Josef Bail, as the “Nationwide Trauma Center” of the Middle Franconia for its outstanding achievements in the treatment of the seriously wounded. Moreover, due to a long experience in the field of sports medicine, the Department is also the official healthcare facility of the Olympic training centre in Bavaria as well as the sports medicine partner of the FC Nuremberg, the Nuremberg Basketball Club (NBC) and the Nuremberg Rams (Rugby Club). The Department is recommended by the FOCUS magazine.

About hospital

The Klinikum Nürnberg is a modern hospital and an academic educational hospital in Germany. Patients rooms

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
