The Department of Adult and Pediatric Traumatology at the University Hospital Rechts der Isar Munich offers the full range of services in this ​​medical field and is one of the leading medical facilities in Germany. The department enjoys an excellent reputation in Munich and Upper Bavaria. The department's doctors specialize in the treatment of bone fractures, soft tissue injuries and joint diseases. The department provides emergency medical care around the clock. All therapeutic measures meet the requirements of the current treatment guidelines of the German Trauma Society. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Peter Biberthaler.

The department has 40 beds, two operating rooms for the surgical treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and one specialized operating room for the treatment of hand injuries. The operating rooms have state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, which ensures optimal results even in severe clinical cases. The department provides medical care to more than 2,300 inpatients and more than 23,000 outpatients every year. All medical interventions are performed at the highest level of university medicine.

The department admits not only adults, but also children with various injuries. The experienced doctors with deep knowledge of pediatric anatomy take care of the health of young patients. Curriculum vitae

Prof. Biberthaler's scientific and practical activities are focused on the treatment of severe traumas (polytraumas) and traumatic brain injuries. The second important focus of ​​clinical and, accordingly, research activity is the surgical treatment of shoulder pathologies. In this field, Prof. Biberthaler became the first specialist to visualize blood flow in the damaged tissues using intraoperative microscopic techniques. After studying Medicine at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and studying in the USA and Brazil, Prof. Biberthaler completed his internship in the Department of Surgery at the Innenstadt Campus at the University of Munich (under the guidance of Prof. Schweiberer). After board certification in Surgery (2003), Prof. Biberthaler specialized in Traumatology. In 2007, he completed his board certification in Orthopedics and Traumatology, and since 2011 he has been the Professor at the Technical University of Munich. Since 2011, Prof. Biberthaler has also been the Head of the Department of Adult and Pediatric Traumatology at the University Hospital Rechts der Isar Munich.
