The Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital of Munich focuses on personalized treatment plans tailored to the patient’s needs, which meet the highest medical and technical standards. The director of the department is Prof. Dr. med. Jörg-Christian Tonn. Here, the therapy of neurosurgical diseases is performed with the help of leading technologies.  By means of a very close cooperation with neighbouring disciplines and an adaptation of the treatment plan to the individual health situation of the patient the department is able to ensure the best possible treatment.

The team of 9 physicians and 15 scientific experts of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital of Munich, headed by  Prof. Dr. med. Jörg-Christian Tonn, is responsible for patient care. The department has 84 beds, of which 10 are for intensive care and 5 for the intermediate care station. The Department of Neurosurgery is a part of the Competence Center for gliomas of the German cancer charity.
