Prof. Dr. C. J. Thaler was appointed University Professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University Hospital of Munich in 1998, where he now directs the special departments of gynaecological endocrinology, family planning and reproductive medicine. Before taking up this post he worked and studied in renowned hospitals and institutes at home and abroad, including the Center for Reproduction and Transplantation Immunology, Indianapolis, USA, the Center for Assisted Reproduction, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, the Medical School of Aberdeen, UK and the Department of Gynaecological Endocrinology of the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University of Frankfurt am Main.

Professor Thaler is President of the German Society of Reproductive Medicine, the oldest and largest German Society involved in new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches of infertility. He is member of the executive board of the German Menopause Society and for some years was Vice-President of the American Society of Reproductive Immunology and is member in numerous national and international scientific societies. He is authorised to provide advanced training in the specialities of gynaecological endocrinology and reproductive medicine, and is an examiner in these fields for the Bavarian State Chamber of Medicine.

His main clinical and scientific interests lie in the areas of

  • Ovarian function and the effects of trace elements and vitamins on this function;
  • Mechanisms of embryonal nidation in the womb (implantation), and
  • Hormonal and immunlogical processes during early pregnancy.

He is the author and co-author of numerous books and book contributions, and of a large number of scientific publications.

The Hormone and Fertility Centre at the Klinikum der Ludwig-Maximilians-University under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Christian Thaler is embedded in one of the largest women's clinics in Europe and offers the full range of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic methods in this field.

In order to clarify the infertility, the centre use many ultra-modern technologies including hormone analysis, ultrasound, ectopic diagnosis, endoscopy of the womb, and genetic testing and so on. For the patients, who suffer from the  absence of pregnancy despite timely sexual intercourse, problems of ovulation, formation of anti-sperm antibodies, low-grade abnormalities of the sperm in terms of number, motility or shape, penetrate problems of sperm into the uterus, failure of ejaculation and unexplained infertility, there is a chance to accept a intrauterine insemination, which injects particularly well motile sperm of her partner into the uterus with a thin plastic catheter at the optimum time For the patient who have absent  or closed fallopian tube, endometrioses, problems on the cervix or experienced failed insemination, in vitro fertilization procedures are carried out in the Hormone and Fertility 

Centre at the Klinikum der Ludwig-Maximilians-University. In addition, Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection is used, when the quality of the sperm is too low.
In order to treat the repeated miscarriage, which can be caused for a variety of reasons such as changes of the uterus, infections, genetic, immunological causes, Enhanced coagulation, hormonal factors,  the Hormone and Fertility Centre at the Klinikum der Ludwig-Maximilians-University under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Patients rooms

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
