Gynecology: Hyperplasia and endometrial hyperplasia — Therapeutic curettage under hysteroscopic control. Treatment
Gynecological curettage is one of the most common "minor" surgeries in obstetrics. Quite often, the procedure is performed after medical or vacuum abortion. The curettage purpose in such cases is removal of the fetal membrane residues from uterus. The timely intervention allows avoiding the development of severe inflammation and maintaining the patient’s intimate health.
On the eve of surgery, the woman is prescribed:
- complete and biochemical blood counts,
- pelvic and breast ultrasound,
- vaginal ultrasound.
Obstetrician-gynecologist shall carry out regular examination, colposcopy and take a scrape of endometrium.
Uterus therapeutic curettage is performed under general anesthesia. Using special instruments, the surgeon removes the top layer of the uterus mucous membranes. The course of surgery is controlled using a miniature camcorder, i.e. hysteroscope. The resulting samples is collected in a tube and sent for laboratory analysis. The duration of all manipulation is max 20 minutes.
After surgery, the patient is transferred to a private room. The physician prescribes symptomatic therapy and provides a number of recommendations for further treatment. If the patients feels good, she is discharged after 2 days.Hide
