The focuses of the Department of Orthopedics at the University Hospital Aachen are minimally invasive and computer-assisted endoprosthetic surgery for joint replacement, complex replacement operations, orthopedics of tumors, spine surgery, sports orthopedics and pediatric orthopedics. Since October 2010 professor Markus Tingart has taken over the direction of the Department. He worked at the Department of Orthopaedics of the University of Regenburg and, i.a., brought from there his long clinical and scientific experiences in the fields of minimally invasive computer-assisted arthroplasty as well as complicated revision arthroplasty. The further clinical focuses are rheumatic orthopedics as well as shoulder and foot surgery. Children and adult patients with congenital or degenerative bone, joint and soft tissue disorders are treated in the Department.
As for the field of spine therapy and surgery, the treatment of multimorbid patients with complex symptoms is another focus of the Department of Orthopedics at the University Hospital Aachen under the direction of Univ.- Prof. Dr. med. Markus Tingart. The treatment options in the field of pediatric orthopedics vary from orthopedic-technical care to complex corrective surgery in foot, hip and erection of scoliosis.
The Department of Orthopedics at the University Hospital Aachen provides treatment to over 15,000 patients and performs over 1,500 operations every year. Within the framework of separate units and special consultations, the Department provides treatment for all diseases of the entire spectrum of conservative and surgical orthopedics with due regard to the latest orthopedic achievements.
The University Hospital Aachen is a so-called hospital of the university maximum care. With its 34 clinics, 25 institutes and five multidisciplinary units covers the University Hospital Aachen not only the entire spectrum of medicine, but also it offers a patient- oriented medical care and nursing, medical education and research of international level. In the current ranking of the magazine FOCUS took the University Hospital Aachen among 2000 hospitals in Germany with number 15 a peak position. That patient care, medical education and research are located in a central building provides the advantage for an intensive interdisciplinary exchange and a close networking between clinics and scientific research. Accommodation in hospital
The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.
Meals and Menus
The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
