Due to an integrated Scoliosis Centre of Schön Clinic focuses on treatment of deformities of any etymology, such as, e.g., scoliosis and kyphosis. The Scoliosis Centre of Schön Clinic treats more than 300 patients with various forms of scoliosis annually. Therefore, the Scoliosis Centre of Schön Clinic is referred to the largest specialized institutions in this field of diseases among all federal lands. An experienced team of doctors uses the modern and recognized opportunities for diagnostics and treatment, to alleviate the patient's symptoms efficiently and for a long term.

Among other things, the following forms of scoliosis are treated:

  • Idiopathic scoliosis
  • Neuromuscular scoliosis (e.g., cerebral palsy)
  • Congenital scoliosis (wedge-shaped vertebrae or hemivertebrae)
  • Scoliosis with syndromic diseases (e.g. Down's syndrome, connective tissue diseases, such as Marfan's syndrome)
  • A combination of scoliosis and kyphosis (kyphoscoliosis)

The treatment is based on an in-house system, Halm-Zielke tool. This tool, developed by the chief physician, Prof. Dr. Halm, is put on in above the breast or above abdomen and allows for an excellent three-dimensional scoliosis correction. At the same time, the center is involved in optimization of many implants implanted dorsally for scoliosis correction. Hence, good results are achieved due to a single surgery in the clinic. Besides, in rare cases, the innovative methods, such as implants adaptable to growth, e.g. "Growing Rods", which may contribute to the positive spine development, are used for treatment of young patients.
