The Department of General, Abdominal and Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital Charite Berlin treats sicknesses in general, visceral surgery as well as other surgical areas. It consists of 3 clinics on 3 locations: the Department of General, Visceral and Vascular Surgery at Campus Benjamin Franklin, Department of General, Visceral and Transplantation Surgery at Campus Vichow-Klinikum and Department of General, Visceral, Vascular and thoracic Surgery at the Campus Charite Mitte. The Director of the Department at Campus Benjamin Franklin is Prof. Dr. med. Martin E. Kreis. The Director of all Departments at Campus Charité Mitte and Campus Vichow-Klinikum is Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Johann Pratschke.

The main areas of focus at the Benjamin Franklin Campus are: cytoreductive surgery, chronic inflammatory bowel disease, minimally invasive surgery, metastasis surgery and vascular surgery.

Certified Oncology Centre, Certified Competence Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery and Certified Competence Center for Surgical diseases of the pancreas are based at Vichow-Klinikum Campus. The central focus here is on liver surgery, pancreatic surgery, esophageal and gastric surgery, minimally invasive surgery and endocrine surgery.

The following surgery services are also provided at Campus Mitte: General and visceral surgery, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, melanoma surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, bariatric surgery, peritoneal / HIPEC and Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS).
