The Department of General, Visceral and Tumor Surgery deals with the surgical treatment of benign and malignant diseases. The focus is on surgery for cancers of esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine, liver, gall bladder, pancreas and thyroid. Our range of services also covers such benign diseases as inguinal or incisional hernias, inflammatory diseases of intestine thyroid and morbid obesity. The organ transplants, for example, of liver, pancreas and kidney are other priorities here.
The Breast Center of the University Hospital Cologne in Germany with its partner St Catherine's Hospital in Frechen is one of the largest university breast centers in Germany. Our medical focuses include tumor surgery (breast-conserving surgery, breast reconstruction, removal of the lymph nodes), breast lift, breast augmentation, fertility preservation, diagnostics, drug therapies and radiation therapy.

It consists of a compact linear accelerator that is mounted on an industrial robot, and emits numerous high-energy radiation beam from different directions on a defined area within the body. Only the focus of all beams in the target leads to a destruction of the tumour tissue. Patient and tumour motion are compensated by means of fluoroscopy and infrared sensors.
