The Department of Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital Cologne in Germany, headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Jan Brunkwall, offers all methods of diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases. Integrated into a new Heart Center, we provide comprehensive care for our patients in one place. The Department has 28 beds for the standard medical care as well as the intensive care unit with 48 beds for the patients, who need intermediate and intensive care in cooperation with other departments of the Heart Center.

Annually, over 1,200 operations are performed in the Department of Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital Cologne in Germany, headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Jan Brunkwall. We are particularly specialized in the endovascular treatment of aneurysms of aorta in the chest and abdominal cavity.

The Department of Vascular Surgery provides the first-line treatment, post-treatment and rehabilitation after vascular operations to over 3000 patients every year.

We place special emphasis on the intensive interdisciplinary cooperation, especially, with the Institute and Department of Radiology. Furthermore, the Department of Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital Cologne offers to its patients an optimal and patient-oriented diagnosis and therapy together with our colleagues form the Department of Neurology and Nephrology.

Patients rooms

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
