The Department of Endocrinology and Diabetology at the University Hospital Dusseldorf  deals with general endocrinology, general diabetology and metabolism. The head of the Department is Univ. Prof. Dr. Michael Roden. The field of endocrinology is the center for comprehensive outpatient and inpatient diagnosis and treatment of all endocrine diseases: disorders of the endocrine glands (thyroid gland, adrenal gland, gonads), pituitary disorders, autoimmune thyroiditis (Basedow’s disease) as well as autoimmune polyglandular syndromes and metabolic disorders.

The Department has a specialized outpatient clinic for the treatment of thyroid disorders. The main focuses are diagnosis and treatment of Grave’s disease, which is an autoimmune thyroid disease. At this disease immune system attacks its own tissues, in this case – thyroid. Other outpatient departments are designed for the treatment of pituitary, parathyroid and adrenal gland dysfunctions.
