The Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology at the University Hospital Dusseldorf deals with diagnosis and treatment of all diseases of the hematopoietic system (anemias, leukemias, thrombocytopenia), cancers (tumors), blood clotting disorders, rheumatological and immunoloigcal diseases of every age group (infants, children, adolescents). The head of the Department is Prof. Dr. Arndt Borkhardt. 

The Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology offers the full range of advanced pediatric hospital with all capablities for hardware and laboratory diagnosis. The treatment covers not only conventional, well-tried treatment approaches, but also innovative, experimental treatment methods for the most severe diseases. All these methods correspond to the recommendations of the professional community.

The priority focuses of the Department include allogeneic blood stem cell transplantation (the Department for stem cell / bone marrow transplant), including haploidentical transplant, when parents are donors of stem cells for a sick chid (closely-related transplantation). Moreover, the innovative approaches to the treatment after the transplant, such as tumor vaccination by dendritic cells (dendritic vaccine) are in the process of testing. 

Other priority focuse in the field of outpatient treatment (outpatient hematology and oncology) of the Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology at the University Hospital Dusseldorf includes diagnosis and treatment of bone marrow diseases, such as disorders of platelet formation and function or acute or chronic anemias. Children with congenital or acquired disorders of hemostasis or blood clotting receive medical care in the outpatient clinic for blood clotting disorders. 

The treatment focuses of the Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology under the direction of Prof. Dr. Arndt Borkhardt are:
