Ophthalmology Clinic at Erlangen University Clinic with its 80 approved beds, seven operating rooms, including an outpatient ophthalmic surgical center and university outpatient department, is one of the largest university ophthalmic clinics in Germany. Every year, the clinic treats about 38,000 outpatients and about 6,000 inpatients. Medical care encompasses the entire spectrum of ophthalmology and is a clinic for treatment of eye diseases of any complicacy for our patients from the region. In this case, round-the-clock aid is guaranteed in emergency situations. Due to a high degree of specialization, Ophthalmic Clinic is a partner, consulting on the most complex clinical pictures and severe disease progress.

The clinic is equipped with the latest medical and technical equipment. With innovative surgical techniques, especially in the field of corneal transplantation (endothelial keratoplasty of Descemet's membrane, automatic endothelial keratoplasty with Descemet's membrane splitting, deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty), the clinic plays a leading role in the international arena in ophthalmology.

Surgical treatment spectrum:

  • eyelid plastic surgery (incl. cosmetic eyelid adjustment)

Accommodation in hospital

Patients rooms

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
