Dermatological Clinic at Erlangen University Clinic is an internationally recognized center of high competence for diagnostics and treatment of skin diseases. With advanced world level of knowledge, every year it treats more than 3,000 inpatients (46 night and 10 day inpatient beds), and almost 30,000 outpatients. Since December 06, 2002, the quality management system of the Dermatological Clinic is certified according to ISO 9001:2008.

Dermatological Clinic explores new possibilities for treatment of inflammatory and neoplastic diseases. Patients with malignant melanoma can be treated using special immunotherapy even at later stages. This therapy, developed jointly with the Nobel Prize winners, Professor Ralph Steinman (Rockefeller University, New York) and Professor Gerold Schuler, is currently available in only a few hospitals in the world.

The basic treatment directions in the clinic are as follows:

  • Skin tumors (malignant melanoma and other malignant skin diseases of) and surgical dermatology
  • Allergies, including production and environmental dermatology
  • (Auto-) immune diseases
  • Psoriasis, including training for adults
  • Neurodermatitis, including training
  • Hair and scalp diseases
  • Andrology ("treatment of male urinary organs": treatment of infertility/erectile dysfunction)
  • Dermatohistopathology
  • Care of patients with chronic wounds
