The Department of Gastroenterology, Pneumology and Endocrinology is the department №1 at the University Hospital Frankfurt. Its focuses include gastroenterology and hepatologym pneumology and allergology, endocrinology and diabetology as well as nutritional medicine. The head of the Department of Gastroenterology, Pneumology and Endocrinology is Prof. Dr. med. S. Zeuzem.

The Medical Department №1 at the University Hospital Frankfurt under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. S. Zeuzem provides diagnosis and therapy in a well-equipped Unit of Endoscopy and in the corresponding specialized laboratories. Within the framework of interventional endoscopy the following tumors are treated here: tumors of GIT, liver, biliary tracts and pancreas (laser treatment, installation of metal and plastic prostheses, photodynamic therapy etc.). All systematic chemotherapies are carreid out according to the guidelines. To treat complex diseases of the biliary tracts, the Department has cholangioscopies for imaging as well as lithotripters for stone breaking.

The Unit of Gastrointestinal Oncology at the University Hospital Frankfurt coordinates multidisciplinary curative and palliative treatment of patients with carcinoma of esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum and anal canal as well as those with tumors of liver, biliary tracts and pancreas.

About hospital

The University Hospital Frankfurt is a part of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. The hospital with rich traditions was founded in 1914 and is a famous one in Germany. Annually about 50,000 inpatients and 220,000 outpatients are treated in this hospital. The main objective of 32 specialized departments and clinical and theoretical institutes is to provide the best possible patient care.

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
