The Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital Frankfurt focuses on modern and qualified medical care, education of specialized doctors and students as well as researches in the field of detection and treatment of neurosurgical diseases. The head of the Department is Prof. Dr. med. Volker Seifert. The Department has state-of-the-art neurosurgical equipment and deals with conservative and surgical diagnosis and treatment of all diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system.

The fundamental principle and aim of patient care is minimally invasive surgery with the use of computerized microsurgical, endoscopic, robotized methods as well as the involvement of stereotaxic methods and the latest imaging techniques. In addition, through a close collaboration with the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital Frankfurt there is offered a deep brain stimulation in case of motor disorders (Parkinson).

The clinical focuses in the field of neurosurgery at the University Hospital Frankfurt under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Volker Seifert include:
