The Department of Pediatric Surgery at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Konrad Reinshagen, who is a specialist in the field of general and pediatric surgery. 

The clinical focuses of the Department of Pediatric Surgery cover general, visceral and thoracic surgery as well as pediatric urology of newborns, children and adolescents. The main focuses of the Department of Pediatric Urology at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Konrad Reinshagen also include plastic pediatric urology as well as hand surgery and burn treatment in the Altona Children’s Hospital (Altonaer Kinderkrankenhaus).

A special focus is on the treatment of rare diseases, especially Hirschsprung’s disease, biliary atresia, esophageal atresia, congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
