The patient is in the center of all efforts in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Heidelberg University Hospital. The chief physician of the Department is Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. P. K. Plinkert. With respect to the clinical picture, there are provided specialized consultations as well as there are used innovative therapy forms and specialized surgical techniques. As the Department of Otolaryngology at the Heidelberg University Hospital is equipped with the latest medical advances, it provides the full range of services in the field of otolaryngology. The Department specializes in oncology, otology, rhinology and laryngology. Due to the integration into the Department of Head, there is ensured an interdisciplinary approach to the treatment.

The Department of Otolaryngology at the Heidelberg University Hospital has 3,5 operating rooms in the central surgical unit. They are equipped with the state-of-the-art microscopes, digital endoscopes and video appliances. Of special note is a shared CT system used for intraoperative CT examinations. Moreover, intraoperative neuronavigation can be carried out here. The outpatient department includes 7 fully equipped examination cabins, outpatient surgical unit and also diagnostic unit, where all technical examinations in the fields of audiology, neurootology, rhinology and laryngology can be performed.

Accommodation in hospital

Patients rooms

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
