The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Heidelberg University Hospital offers the whole range of services in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. The chief physician of the Department is Prof. Dr. med. Jürgen Hoffmann. The Department specializes in tumor surgery with the following reconstructive plastic operations. Over 20,000 outpatients are treated in the Department every year. There is used a modern 3D technology along with a classic two-dimensional X-ray method to ensure an accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Heidelberg University Hospital has 5 operating rooms, two of which are with the most advanced surgical unit in the central surgical department, 3 others are within the polyclinic (outpatient unit). There is also a polyclinic with 13 wards and the intensive and intermediate care units with 43 inpatient beds. Due to the state-of-the-art technical medical equipment and perfect cooperation of the team under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Jürgen Hoffmann, the Department provides comprehensive, customized medical aid and care to every patient.

Accommodation in hospital

Patients rooms

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
