The Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery at the Heidelberg University Hospital consists of two separate units. The focus of the unit in Neuenheimer Feld area is interdisciplinary treatment of the patients with multiple injuries and polytraumas. Moreover, the Department offers all existing possibilities of comprehensive outpatient and inpatient treatment for all injuries oft he musculoskeletal system.

Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Heidelberg University Hospital offers medical care to mother and child, obstetric care and provides optimal treatment of cancer patients. The Department covers a wide range of services in the treatment of cancer, from the services of the Center for Obstetric and Perinatal Care and up to general gynecology. Department of Gynecological Endocrinology and Fertility Disorders
The Department of Gynecologic Endocrinology and Reproductive Health at the Heidelberg University Hospital provides medical care for hormonal disorders and infertility. The Department specializes in surgery to restore reproductive functions, in particular minimally invasive endoscopic methods, such as treatment of tubal occlusion, fibroids (benign tumors) or endometrioses (benign formations).
Department of Neurology
As a part of the Department of Head, the Department of Neurology at the Heidelberg University Hospital maintains close cooperation with the Department of Neuroradiology as well as with the Department of Neurosurgery and forms the Neurology Center with these departments. The Department covers the entire spectrum of all neurological diseases. Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Heidelberg University Hospital offers the whole range of services in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. The Department specializes in tumor surgery with the following reconstructive plastic operations. Over 20,000 outpatients are treated in the Department every year. There is used a modern 3D technology along with a classic two-dimensional X-ray method to ensure an accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Department of Dermatology
The Department of Dermatology at the Heidelberg University Hospital is a national recognized Center for Oncological Dermatology. It is the first Department of Dermatology in Germany, which was awarded an official high-quality mark of the certified Skin Cancer Center. The Department includes numerous specialized units, such as general outpatient unit, the outpatient unit for allergy treatment, andrological, immunological, oncological and phlebological outpatient units as well as the Laser Medicine and Aesthetics Center. Department of Thoracic Surgery
The Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Heidelberg University Hospital ranks among the largest and oldest departments of thoracic surgery in Europe. As the Department of excellence, it was certified as the Lung Cancer Center in 2009. The main focus is on the treatment of congenital cardiovascular diseases by means of catheterization (interventional cardiology), pediatric cardiologic intensive and outpatient care for the patients with congenital heart defects.

The department of oncology, hematology, immunology and pulmonology (department of pediatrics III) is a part of the Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, which is one of the largest centers in Germany in the field of pediatrics. The department focuses on the treatment of children and adolescents with cancers, diseases of blood and immune system as well as severe lung diseases.
The Breast Center at the Heidelberg University Hospital offers to female (and male) patients a comprehensive treatment of breast diseases. A highly qualified team of doctors of the Center provides treatment to about 600 patients with breast cancer every year. As one of the biggest breast centers in Germany, the Center is of supraregional significance and receives patients from all parts of Germany.

The Department specializes, i.a., in surgery of newborns and premature babies, visceral surgery, oncosurgery, pediatric traumatology and urology.
HIT: Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center
The Heidelber Ion-Beam Therapy Center HIT at the Heidelberg University Hospital has a treatment system for tumor diseases, which is a unique one worldwide. This system is implemented in the Center due to the use of innovative technologies. Moreover, it is represented as the first system of radiation therapy with protons and heavy ions in Europe, which was integrated into the University Hospital. Over 1000 patients have been treated in the Center as well as a number of clinical researches has been initiated since ist founding in November 2009.
National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg
The National Cancer Center (NCC) Heidelberg is a joint offspring of the Heidelberg University Hospital, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), Thoracic Department of the Heidelberg University and the German Cancer Aid.
