The Department of Pediatric Surgery at the University Hospital Jena, under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Felicitas Eckoldt, offers the entire range of highly specialized procedures for diagnosis and therapeutic treatment of all congenital and acquired surgically treatable diseases in children. The child as a patient is at the center of the clinical work and the department is committed to ensure the rapid recovery of patients in a friendly atmosphere of loving care.

The range of medical services provided by the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the University Hospital Jena, under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Felicitas Eckoldt, covers, inter alia, the following diseases: congenital malformations (e.g., esophageal atresia, duodenal, gastroschisis, omphalocele, bladder exstrophy, pulmonary sequestration, congenital cystic adenomatoidnaya malformation, urethral valves, ureteral stenosis, etc.), acute and chronic acquired diseases (such as appendicitis, Meckel's diverticulum inflammation, inflammatory bowel disease), trauma (fractures, burns, wounds of any type). In addition, the department also offers special consultations for patients with malformations of kidney and the urinary tract from the renal pelvis to the urethra.

The Department of Pediatric Surgery at the University Hospital Jena, headed by Prof. Dr. med. Felicitas Eckoldt, has developed a close cooperation with other surgical/ operative departments at the University Hospital Jena (e.g. the Department of General, Abdominal and Vascular Surgery, Department of Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery, Department of Neurosurgery and Department of Traumatology, Hand Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery).
