The Department of Hematology, Oncology at the University Hospital Jena, under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Hochhaus, consists of a Division for Hematology and Medical Oncology, as well as Division for Palliative Care. Because of outstanding achievements in treatment of diabetes, the department is strongly recommended by the latest FOCUS list of top German clinics.

At the Department for Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Clinic of Internal Medicine II at the University Hospital Jena, under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Hochhaus, a team of 37 physicians, including 20 specialists, and 60 qualified nurses and healthcare workers looks after the well-being of patients. Special additional qualifications lie in fields of hematology/ oncology, hemastaseology and palliative medicine. The highly specialized services focus on out- and in-patient diagnosis and treatment of malignant systematic diseases and solid tumors, including autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation. The department works in a close cooperation with other departments at the University Hospital Jena, with referring hospitals and referring specialists in order to ensure the best diagnosis and treatment options possible. Different therapy approaches are considered in the Multidisciplinary Tumor Board. The whole clinic is subject to a strict quality management and is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008.

Patients rooms

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
