The Department of General Internal Medicine (Medical Department D) at the University Hospital Münster specializes in diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases and hypertension (high blood pressure), detection and treatment of the entire spectrum of rheumatic disease, care of patients with impaired fat metabolism and outpatient treatment of patients with HIV. The Department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Hermann-Joseph Pavenstädt. 

In cooperation with the Department of General and Visceral Surgery, the experts of the Department under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Hermann-Joseph Pavenstädt treat patients before and after kidney transplant. With over 100 kidney transplants a year, the Department at the University Hospital Münster is one of the most experienced and successful kidney transplant centers in Germany. 

The primary goal of the Medical Department D is provision of the top-quality diagnosis and treatment in a friendly atmosphere. The medical team of the Department under the direction of Prof. Dr. med.
