Department of Ophthalmology
The Department of Ophthalmology at the University Hospital of Würzburg covers the entire spectrum of conservative and surgical ophthalmology and emergency ophthalmology. The Department offers You the latest diagnostic and treatment methods. In addition to the outpatient clinic, there are three sections, three main operating rooms, as well as the operating room for outpatient surgery.
Department of Dermatology, Venerology and Allergology
The Department of Dermatology, Venerology and Allergology offers the entire spectrum of conservative and surgical dermatology. A particular attention is given to the treatment of malignant skin tumors, as well as diagnosis and treatment of allergic and autoimmune skin diseases. The specialized outpatient clinics provide counseling for patients with psoriasis, neurodermatitis and hyperhidrosis, skin melanoma and lymphoma, venous foot ulcer and diseases of the external anal and genital area.
Department of General, Abdominal, Vascular and Pediatric Surgery
The Department of General, Abdominal, Vascular and Pediatric Surgery (Department of Surgery I) covers the entire spectrum of general and abdominal surgery. There are two specialized Sections of Vascular and Pediatric Surgery. The Department offers the whole range of top-class surgical services. The Department of Surgery I is recommended in the FOCUS list of specialized clinics for bowel cancer in 2016.
Department of Cardiology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Pulmonology and Angiology (Department of Medicine I)
The Department of Medicine I deals with research, training and clinical activities and specializes in six fields of internal medicine: cardiology, intensive care medicine, nephrology, pneumology, angiology and endocrinology. The Department has 62 full-time medical positions and 20 externally funded positions for researchers. According to the FOCUS, the Department is recommended in the list of top cardiology clinics in 2016.

The Department of Trauma, Hand, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Department of Surgery II) offers the full range of emergency and reconstructive surgery, plastic and aesthetic, as well as hand surgery. The Department is part of the Trauma Center of the University Hospital, which provides consultations for seriously wounded (polytraumatic) patients.
Department of Gynecology, Mammalogy and Obstetrics
As the maximum care hospital, the Department of Gynecology, Mammalogy and Obstetrics offers a wide range of the most different treatment options. The objective of the Department is to provide an optimal medical care at all stages of woman’s file. A special focus is on the treatment of breast cancer and oncological diseases of the female reproductive organs.
Department of Medicine II (Department of Hematology, Oncology, Gastroenterology and Rheumatology)
The Department of Medicine II treats patients with hematologic/oncologic, gastrointestinal and rheumatologic / immunological clinical pictures on both inpatient and outpatient basis. In March 2005, there was founded a new Stem Cell Transplant Center. The therapeutic outpatient clinic carries out chemo-, immune-, and antibody therapies every day. There are also special sections for the treatment of patients with severe infections.
Department of Otolaryngology, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery
The Department of Otolaryngology, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at the University Hospital of Würzburg is one of the most renowned and large clinics of otolaryngology in Germany. The international reputation of the Department is due to “the father of ear microsurgery”, Prof. Dr. Horst Wullstein, who was one of the first to embody a treatment concept of head diseases in the Department. Optimal patient care conditions were established here over decades.
Department of Neurology
The Department of Neurology offers emergency and acute care (e.g. stroke treatment) at the most advanced university level. Department of Neurosurgery and Pediatric Neurosurgery
The Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital of Würzburg treats patients with all diseases of the brain, spinal cord, spine and peripheral nerves. There are treated adults, infants and children. An experienced medical team of the Department annually provides diagnosis and counseling to over 5,600 patients. Department of Orthodontics
The objectives of the clinical activity of the Department of Orthodontics at the University Hospital of Würzburg cover the entire spectrum of various forms of diseases in the maxillofacial area. These include prevention and treatment of dental deformities, incorrect position of the jaw and malformations of the facial skeleton. A particular focus is on the treatment of cleft lip, jaw and palate, craniofacial abnormalities, severe forms of jaw abnormalities, as well as on the treatment of jaw fractures.
