The treatment at the University Hospital of Würzburg involves not only removable devices (plates, functional orthodontic appliances) and non-removable systems (standard braces, ceramic braces and self-ligating braces), but also other orthodontic devices (Herbst appliance, cortical miniscrews).

Overall, there are annually treated about 1,500 patients of all ages. Nearly 600 patients receive a comprehensive consultation on orthodontics. A particular focus is on the treatment of cleft lip, jaw and palate, craniofacial abnormalities, combined maxillofacial surgical and orthodontic treatment of severe forms of jaw abnormalities in adults, as well as on the treatment of jaw fractures.

The treatment of adults is provided in tight cooperation with periodontics, prosthetics and maxillofacial surgery. A special attention is paid to the change of special orientation of teeth upon periodontal diseases, as well as to the combined orthodontic and surgical treatment of mesial, open occlusion, posterior occlusion.
