The Department of Dialysis Shunt Surgery at the DKD HELIOS Clinic Wiesbaden offers all conservative and interventional treatments, including central venous catheterization. The department deals with the surgical formation of shunts for hemodialysis, as well as specializes in open surgical and endoscopic treatment of vascular diseases, conservative treatment of arterial diseases, diagnostics and treatment of venous diseases and their complications. The Chief Physician of the department is Prof. Dr. med. Gerhard Krönung.
First of all, the department is famous for its specialists. For example, the Chief Physician of the department, Professor Krönung, is an advanced expert in dialysis shunt surgery with 40 years of experience. The professor is one of the pioneers in this field of medicine and took an active part in the development and further improvement of its methods. In particular, he is one of the creators of CO2 phlebography and CO2 shunt surgery, the use of which has significantly improved the success rates of treatment in the field of dialysis shunt surgery.
