The Department of Adult and Pediatric Oncology, Radiation Oncology at the Acibadem Healthcare Group offers the full range of medical services for the prevention, diagnostics and treatment of various types of cancer. To achieve successful treatment results, the department's highly qualified team of doctors has in its arsenal vast experience in the treatment of cancers, state-of-the-art equipment and many effective therapeutic techniques. The department's specialists apply a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnostics and treatment of patients – each clinical case is considered individually, with the participation of oncologists, radiation therapists, chemotherapists, highly qualified specialists, psychologists, etc. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Nuran Senel Beşe.
A crucial role in the treatment success is played by the accurate diagnostics, which allows the doctors to determine the type of tumor, its accurate location and stage of the pathological process. The department performs the most modern imaging examinations, for example, intraoperative 3 Tesla MRI, PET-CT, digital mammography with tomosynthesis, instant flash CT. The department also has progressive laboratories, which provide the full range of necessary laboratory tests.
In most cases, the surgical removal of the neoplasm is the main type of cancer therapy. The decision on the necessity and type of surgical intervention is made taking into account the specific diagnosis and clinical indications. The department's specialists have excellent skills in laparoscopic interventions using the innovative da Vinci Surgical System. Such operations have a number of advantages in comparison with classical surgery, particularly, minimal pain, reduced blood loss, small scars and a short period of hospitalization. The robotic operations are especially often performed for cancer of the reproductive organs in men and women, cardiovascular pathologies, ENT diseases, etc.
In addition, the department has excellent options for radiation therapy. Radiation therapy is used both in curative (often in combination with surgery and chemotherapy) and palliative purposes (to improve the quality of life of patients with incurable stages of cancer). The innovative equipment is used for radiation therapy, for example, Rapidarc, Trilogy linear accelerator, MRIdian® Linac devices, TrueBeam®, etc. This allows the team of the department's doctors to complete cure various stages of cancer.

Curriculum vitae
In 1998, Dr. Beşe graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Cerrahpaşa Istanbul University. In 1995, the doctor had his board certification at the Istanbul University, in the Department of Radiation Oncology, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine.
In 1993, Dr. Beşe received the British Council scholarship and went to England as Visiting Physician of the Royal Marsden Hospital. From 1995 to 2000, Prof. Beşe worked as the Medical Specialist at the Faculty of Medicine at the Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa. Then she received the title of Assistant Professor and worked at the same university from 2000 to 2006. From May to August 2006, she worked at the UN Atomic Energy Agency, in the Department of Radiation Therapy, Radiobiology and Radiophysics. Then she returned to the Faculty of Medicine at the Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, where she received the title of Professor. Since 2010, Prof. Beşe has been working in the Department of Adult and Pediatric Oncology, Radiation Oncology at the Acibadem Healthcare Group.
