About the department keyboard_arrow_down

Within the framework of the activities of the Certified Cancer Center at the Department of Oncology and Hematology the treatment of cancer and diseases of the hematopoietic system using the most modern treatment methods is introduced. The examinations in the field of tumor immunology are carried out and new therapy methods in clinical trials are provided here at the Department.

Professional services of the Department include:

• All types of standard chemotherapy and immunotherapy, such as antibody treatment

• High dose chemotherapy with stem cell transplantation

• Experimental therapy methods in clinical trials. For this purpose, there exists a close cooperation with our Department of Clinical Research

• To the research directions belong immunological diagnosis and treatment of tumors, e.g., with help of tumor vaccines

• Combined radio-chemotherapy in collaboration with the Department of Radiation Oncology

In some cases, treatment recommendations by the Interdisciplinary Commission on the Tumors Treatment are given. At a Multidisciplinary Consultation of oncologists, surgeons, gastroenterologists, pathologists, radiologists and radiation oncologists after extensive discussions the best individual treatment methods for cancer patients are selected. The treatment strategy chose the patients by themselves. The medical team explains all the necessary diagnostic steps and supports them at all treatment stages.
