About the Department of Dentistry at Phuket Smile Signature Dental Clinic
The Department of Dentistry at the Phuket Smile Signature Dental Clinic offers all modern services in this field. The focus is on general and aesthetic dentistry, implantology and maxillofacial surgery. The team of doctors also has exceptional competence in prosthetic dentistry, endodontic and periodontal dentistry. Thanks to the use of advanced technologies and modern equipment, all patients of the clinic are provided with top-class dental care. The department is headed by Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. Narumol Pattaraporncharoen.
One of the department's priorities is general dentistry. This field of dentistry includes the prevention and treatment of pathological conditions of the oral cavity. Of course, any therapy is preceded by consultation and accurate diagnostics. The dentists mostly provide such services as cleaning, scaling (grinding) and polishing, filling and tooth extraction. Professional cleaning, scaling and polishing of teeth is recommended twice a year. The dental fillings are divided in two types: amalgam fillings and composite fillings. The department uses only composite fillings. If the tooth is badly damaged and the filling or crown is not able to preserve it, the dentist recommends its extraction. Most simple tooth extractions are performed using local anesthetic, and if necessary, sedatives may be additionally prescribed.
Today, many people want to have not only healthy teeth, but also a beautiful smile. That is why more and more appropriate techniques are being developed in the field of cosmetic dentistry. The department's scope of competence includes highly professional teeth whitening, placement of veneers, crowns, bridges, bonding, etc.
The teeth can often become darker due to smoking, eating certain foods, drinks (coffee, tea or red wine) or poor oral hygiene. Teeth whitening is ideal for improving your smile. Another ultramodern and effective technique is the placement of veneers. Veneers are ceramic or composite plates, which adhere to the surface of a tooth. They help to repair or restore teeth fractures or cracks. Dental crowns are commonly used to repair and cover damaged teeth. Crowns not only provide an aesthetic appearance, but also help to strengthen fragile teeth. In the case of bonding, dental composite materials are used to close the gaps between the teeth, restore damaged, broken or carious teeth. The department uses only high-quality materials. The medical facility also has its own private specialized Dental Laboratory, which accelerates the treatment process.
The procedure for dental implant placement is very popular in the department. The department's experienced implantologists offer their patients all innovative types of dental implantation, such as the placement of one dental implant, the placement of several dental implants at once, the placement of a removable denture of the entire dentition, the placement of a fully implantable fixed bridge, as well as All-on-4 and All-on-6 implantation. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root, which is surgically fixed in the jaw for the subsequent placement of dental crown or bridge. The advantage of using implants is autonomous fixation, durability and stability. The implants are an excellent therapeutic option in tooth loss, as they look as natural as possible.
In addition, the department specializes in prosthetic dentistry. The most common services in this field of dentistry are the placement of prostheses, bridges and dental implants. The prosthesis usually consists of artificial teeth attached to a plastic base, which is sometimes connected by a metal frame, which fixes the prosthesis in the mouth. Another treatment option is a fixed dental bridge. It replaces one or more teeth by placing crowns on adjacent healthy teeth and attaching artificial teeth to them.
In addition, the department's medical team has unique experience in the extraction of wisdom teeth. The extraction of wisdom tooth is most often performed on an outpatient basis. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. After the operation, the dentist provides the patient with all the necessary recommendations for intake of drinks and foods, elimination of pain, maintenance of a clean oral cavity, treatment of hemorrhage, etc. If the patient has swelling or severe pain, he should contact the dentist for the follow-up examination.
Periodontology (treatment of gum disease) is also an integral part of the department's clinical practice. The most common services include deep cleaning, crown-lengthening surgery and gingivectomy, as well as bone grafting. Gingivectomy is a procedure, which is used for the removal of gingival tissue proliferation. Deep cleaning of the gums is carried out for the treatment and prevention of inflammation, recession and gum diseases. Bone grafting is used for prosthetics or growth stimulation of destroyed bone tissue or gums.
The department's range of therapeutic options is complemented by root canal treatment (endodontic treatment). It is used for the elimination of toothache and tooth sensitivity. The root canal treatment involves tooth pulp removal. As soon as the damaged, painful or dead pulp is removed, the remaining space is cleaned and filled with synthetic material. This procedure serves to close the root canal.
