About the Department of Adult and Pediatric Oncology and Other Chronic Diseases at Private Hospital Dr. Herzog Nidda

The Department of Adult and Pediatric Oncology and Other Chronic Diseases at the Private Hospital Dr. Herzog offers the full range of traditional and innovative methods of diagnostics and treatment of cancer of various localization and etiology. The department's specialists focus on the treatment of malignant tumors with classical and innovative techniques, by means of chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, as well as using various types of hyperthermia. The department specializes in the treatment of oncology in both adults and children. In addition to oncologists, psychologists work with patients, since a diagnosis of cancer can cause severe emotional distress. The medical staff develops an individual treatment and nutrition regimen for each patient, which contributes to the maximum strengthening of defences of the body, particularly the immune system. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Alexander Herzog.

The department's specialists actively use hyperthermia in the treatment of oncology. Hyperthermia is an artificial increase of temperature in the body or individual organs up to 42-43°C. This treatment reduces blood flow to the tumor to almost zero, thereby destroying it and preventing the spreading of cancer cells throughout the body. Without proper blood supply, the tumor and metastases do not receive the necessary nutrients, which leads to their death. The department offers superficial, local and general hyperthermia (whole body hyperthermia). The type of therapy, its duration and temperature level are selected strictly individually. During the procedure, periods of heating and cooling alternate, so it is well tolerated and causes minimal side effects. An additional advantage is the absence of impact on healthy tissues and organs. The procedure is indicated for patients with any stage of cancer, as well as when the tumor has metastasized to distant areas of the body. The result of the treatment is maintained for a long time, it significantly improves the quality of life even at the advanced stages of the disease.

The department also specializes in the biological and homeopathic cancer treatment. The methods include infusions of homeopathic drugs for detoxification, infusions of high doses of vitamins and antioxidants, magnetic therapy, oxygen therapy, ozone therapy and physiotherapy. These techniques have proven their effectiveness: they activate the processes of tissue regeneration, increase the chances of recovery and strengthen the body as a whole.

Among chronic diseases, the special attention is paid to the treatment of borreliosis or Lyme disease. Lyme disease causes severe weakness, neurological problems, pain, and many other symptoms. In the absence of timely treatment, borreliosis can lead to severe damage to nerve endings and internal organs. In addition, severe side effects often occur due to the treatment with antibiotics. The treatment in the department is aimed at increasing the activity of the immune system and eliminating infection by means of the patient's own immunity. Therapeutic hyperthermia increases the sensitivity of bacteria to damaging factors, which leads to their weakening and further destruction. Parenteral antibiotic therapy is carried out in combination with hyperthermia, meanwhile the antibacterial drugs are selected strictly on an individual basis. At the same time, therapy is carried out to activate the immune system. The department has high success rates in the treatment of Lyme disease in Germany.

Curriculum vitae

Prof. Dr. med. Alexander Herzog graduated from the Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. In 1984 he defended his doctoral thesis at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg in the field of cancer immunotherapy.

Further, the doctor's area of specialization included internal medicine and oncology. The doctor worked as a senior and then as a chief physician at various hospitals specializing in the treatment of oncology. During his work, he came to the conclusion that hyperthermia is an ideal addition to the main treatment regimen for the enhancement of chemotherapy and radiation therapy action. Later on, the doctor independently improved the technique of superficial, local and general hyperthermia (whole body hyperthermia).

His achievements also include the development of methods for reducing side effects of radiation therapy and chemotherapy, methods for maintenance of the immune system and improvement of quality of life in cancer patients. The work of the doctor is reflected in his research activities. Dr. Herzog regularly attends various conferences, makes presentations, as well as publications at both national and international level.

Dr. Herzog has been heading his private hospital for over 20 years. The Private Hospital Dr. Herzog Nidda specializes in the conventional types of therapy, as well as in hyperthermia and complementary therapies for various chronic diseases, including Lyme disease.
