About the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at Clinic Wolfgarten Bonn
The Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the Clinic Wolfgarten Bonn offers all the options of imaging diagnostics at the highest level of modern medicine. The medical facility cooperates closely with the Department of Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology and Mammology, and therefore the primary focus of clinical practice is a comprehensive diagnosis of the female reproductive system and breast. At the same time, key attention is paid to women with suspected malignancies. Of particular interest to the department's radiologists is also imaging diagnostics of the skeleton, musculoskeletal system, abdominal organs, blood vessels and skull. The department's specialists are convinced that high-quality diagnostics should be focused on people, but not on diseases. Consequently, they devote sufficient time to communication with patients in order to achieve maximum transparency and understanding. The department is headed by Dr. med. Bettina Wolfgarten.
The department has state-of-the-art equipment, which allows the doctors to detect the slightest pathological changes in the human body, which contributes to their effective elimination and complete restoration of health. It conducts ultrasound examinations, mammography, tomosynthesis, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), bone mineral density measurement (DXA) and others. The department also offers special screening examinations, for example, in order to prevent female genital cancers and breast cancer (in cooperation with the Department of Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology and Mammology). The department's specialists strictly meet all the requirements of radiation protection, and therefore a negative impact of radiation on the human body is almost zero.
It should be noted that the department's medical team has particular experience in the diagnostics of breast cancer, which is one of the most common malignancies in women. The first stage of diagnostics of women with suspected breast cancer involves imaging tests, such as ultrasound scanning, mammography and tomosynthesis, breast MRI. The optimal diagnostic method is determined individually for each patient. If the specialists detect a breast tumor or other pathological changes after receiving the results of diagnostic imaging tests, they proceed to a biopsy. A biopsy is an invasive procedure aimed at tissue sampling for further testing in a laboratory. The department's specialists perform vacuum-assisted and core needle biopsy. The diagnostic procedure can be performed under the guidance of mammography, tomosynthesis or MRI. In addition, the department's radiologists specialize in preoperative breast tumor marking.
The department's range of diagnostic services includes:
- Ultrasound examinations of the breast, female reproductive organs, abdominal organs, thoracic organs, joints and soft tissues, thyroid gland, etc.
- Mammography
- Breast tomosynthesis
- Breast MRI
- Mammography-, tomosynthesis- or MRI-guided vacuum-assisted and core needle biopsy
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for examining the abdominal cavity, pelvis, joints and soft tissues, vascular system, skull, breasts (in rare cases, for suspected breast cancer)
- Computed tomography (CT) for examining the musculoskeletal system, nervous system, heart, vascular system, lungs, abdominal organs, ENT organs, etc.
- Bone mineral density measurement (DXA) for suspected osteoporosis
- Other diagnostic tests
