The lovers of Roman history should definitely visit the Temple of Augustus and the Column of Julian, as well as the Roman Baths. The fortress of Khizar is considered to be the historical center of the city, as it reflects the turbulent past of Ankara. Every ruler and conqueror contributed to the construction of its walls using materials left over from the ruined buildings. One can find inside the ancient buildings and Akkale, the so-called "White Fortress". The Aladdin Mosque is located nearby. It is considered to be one of the oldest Muslim shrines in the city. The mosque has a square shape and a single minaret, which is not typical for Turkey.
