The Department of Otolaryngology at the Hannover Medical School under the lead of Prof. Prof. h.c. Dr. med. Thomas Lenarz has a special expertise in diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the area of ear, nose and throat medicine. The Department primarily specializes in the following clinical pictures: acoustic neurinoma, allergies, cold, facial inflammations, small salivary glands, midfacial fractures, nose/paranasal sinuses and sleep disturbances. Another important field encompasses oncological diseases which are treated within the framework of the Center for Head and Neck Tumors.

The Hannover Medical School is renowned at the international level thanks to the world's largest program of cochlear implantation in treatment of deaf and hardly hearing patients. Thus, the Department focuses on the area of ​​treatment with hearing aids, from the development of devices to the life-long patient care. In order to ensure the highest treatment quality, the German Center for treatment of hearing loss in Hanover works in a close cooperation with various scientific laboratories in Germany.
