Location

Kitsee is a beautiful town in Austria, in the federal state of Burgenland. It is located right on the border with Slovakia near Bratislava. The town has a calm and pleasant atmosphere. It is famous for a special sort of delicious apricots, which are massively grown in local gardens.

Kitsee cannot boast of a great variety of sights, but still the town has something to visit. The New Castle is the main treasure and architectural value of Kitsee. Until 2006, the building housed the Ethnographic Museum, which represented expositions of folk culture from Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. As of today, the castle has been restored and serves for various cultural events. The construction of the castle dates back to the XVII century. It is a bright and valuable example of Baroque architecture. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful park with various plants, fountains and sculptures.

Other interesting places in the town include the Old Castle and the parish church of Kittsee. The Jewish cemetery of Kittsee is of special historical value. In addition, the town still has a hospital, which was opened in 1902. The hospital was founded by the famous Dr. Ladislaus Batthyany-Strattmann. The hospital was renovated and continues to admit patients.
