One of the main focuses of the Department of Pediatric Hemato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation of Dana-Dwek Children's Hospital at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center is bone marrow transplantation (autologous and allogeneic). Autologous bone marrow transplantations are performed for malignant conditions, such as recurrent lymphoma, metastasizing bone cancers, high-risk neuroblastoma and specific types of brain tumors. Allogeneic transplantations treat malignant diseases, such as blood cancer and non-malignant diseases, such as congenital immunodeficiency states, metabolic disorders and hereditary blood diseases. The transplantations are performed in specially designed rooms to meet the unique needs of children and to protect the patient from life-threatening infections (the rooms have positive pressure and air filtration systems). Following the transplantation, the patient returns home and remains under a close follow-up care of experienced specialists. It should be mentioned that the Department is recognized by the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) as an international BMT center.

All facilities of the Department of Pediatric Hemato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation of Dana-Dwek Children's Hospital under the direction of Dr. Ronit Elhasid are designed specifically for children, to make their stay more comfortable.
