1983 begann er die Weiterbildung zum Mund-Kiefer-Gesichtschirurgen an der Klinik und Poliklinik für Mund-, Kiefer- und Gesichtschirurgie der Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. Er erhielt 1987 die Anerkennung zum „Arzt für Mund-Kiefer-Gesichtschirurgie“ und 1990 die Zusatzbezeichnung „Ästhetische und Plastische Operationen“.

Er habilitierte 1992 für das Fach „Mund-Kiefer-Gesichtschirurgie“. Der Titel lautete: „Zur malignen Transformation des Epithels der Mundschleimhaut unter Chemotherapie und Chemoprävention“. Seit 1988 war er in Oberarztfunktion und seit 1994 war er leitender Oberarzt der Klinik und Poliklinik für Mund-, Kiefer- und Gesichtschirurgie der Universität Heidelberg.

Im September 1997 folgte er auf den Ruf als C4-Professor an die Poliklinik für Orale Chirurgie und Implantologie und die Klinik und Poliklinik für Mund-, Kiefer- und Plastische Gesichtschirurgie der Uniklinik Köln.

Seine Arbeitsgebiete sind:

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Plastic Surgery at the University Hospital Cologne in Germany, headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. Joachim Zöller, provides the whole range of services in the field of dentistry, maxillofacial surgery, oral surgery and implantology. The Department is a Comprehensive Center for the treatment of maxillofacial and oral pathologies. Moreover, the specialization field of the Department covers the reconstructive plastic surgery of head and neck as well. 

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Plastic Surgery and Interdisciplinary Polyclinic of Operative Dentistry at the University Hospital Cologne in Germany, headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. Joachim Zöller, is divided into a ward, the maxillofacial surgery outpatient unit, private unit and dental surgery outpatient unit. Operations are performed in our operating rooms or in dental treatment chairs.

Patients rooms

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
