Department of Nephrology and Rheumatology at the University Hospital of Halle (Saale) are nephrology (kidney disease and high blood pressure), rheumatology, as well as metabolic disorders. Particular attention is paid to the prevention of renal dysfunction due to blood pressure and diabetes, rapid recognition and treatment of inflammatory diseases of the kidneys and slowing of their distribution. In the case of an ultimate renal failure, the clinic offers all methods of renal replacement, prepares the patients for dialysis (blood cleansing) and kidney transplantation. In close cooperation with the Department of Urology at the University Hospital of Halle, it performs about 70 transplantations a year.

The rheumatology department treats patients with all diseases og the rheumatic morphological group, autoimmune diseases, and connective tissue diseases. The main focus is the treatment of rheumatic diseases in Halle.
