The department of oncology, hematology, immunology and pulmonology (department of pediatrics III) is a part of the Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, which is one of the largest centers in Germany in the field of pediatrics. The team of specialists of the department provides medical care to about 100 children and adolescents every year. The department under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Kulozik focuses on the treatment of children and adolescents with cancers, diseases of blood and immune system as well as severe lung diseases.

The department of pediatrics III consists of two functional fields: unit of pediatric oncology, hematology and immunology, providing treatment of leukemias and lymphomas, solid tumors, malignant blood diseases, blood clotting disorders and congenital immunodeficiency and the unit of pediatric pulmonology, allergology with the Cystic Fibrosis Center. The last one deals with the treatment of patients with severe lung diseases, such as cystic fibrosis and allergic diseases.

The department of pediatrics III offers a wide range of treatment programs for little patients, including conventional treatment methods by means of chemotherapy, stem cell and bone marrow transplant, radiotherapy and specialized pediatric surgery.

The main focuses of the unit of pediatric oncology, hematology, immunology of the department of pediatrics III under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Kulozik are:

Accommodation in hospital

Patients rooms

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
