Being the only university pediatric clinic in Thuringia the Department of Pediatrics at the University Hospital Jena, under the lead of Prof. Dr. med. James Friedrich Beck, is a medical institution of a maximum care for children and adolescents up to 20 years old. The department offers the entire range of highly specialized procedures for diagnosis and therapeutic treatment of acute and chronic diseases associated with pediatric medicine and is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001. Due to its outstanding achievements in treatment of diabetes, the clinic is strongly recommended by the latest FOCUS list of the top German clinics.

The focal areas of the Department of Pediatrics at the University Hospital Jena, under the lead of Prof. Dr. med. James Friedrich Beck, are: perinatal center, center for oncology and stem cell transplantation, blood center, center for epilepsy, pediatric nephrology in cooperation with the pediatric curatorship for home dialysis, center for diabetology and endocrinology, center for metabolic diseases Thuringia.

The Division of Neonatology and Pediatric Intensive Medicine at the Department of Pediatrics at the University Hospital Jena, under the lead of Prof. Dr. med. James Friedrich Beck, is specialized in intensive care of children of all ages. The division has 16 neonatal beds for intensive care and 12 beds for neonatal monitoring, 4 pediatric beds for intensive care for children at the age of 0-18 years, as well as a sleep laboratory and outpatient units (for follow-up monitoring, sleep clinic and development diagnosis). In order to ensure an optimal patient care, the team cooperates interdisciplinary with all clinics and institutes of the University Hospital Jena, especially in case of malformations.

The University Hospital Jena, looking back on a history of more than 200 years, is the only university hospital in the state of Thuringia. Patients rooms

The kid rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kid bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower. All rooms offer functional beds with orthopaedic mattresses ensuring unsurpassed support for overall body during sleep. There are bedside stands with pull-out tables, lockers and safe boxes in each room. It is also possible to access the Internet from a PC, smartphone or tablet so that kids always keep in touch with their parents and other family members. There is also a TV in each room.
You can opt for a single or a double room. An accompanying person may stay with the kid in the room. A double room is shared with another patient.
The enhanced comfort rooms are equipped with a safety box, a fridge and upholstered furniture.

Meals and Menus

The patient and the accompanying person are offered a daily choice of three menus. If you are on a specific diet for any reason, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to the treatment.
