University ENT Clinic of Würzburg is one of the most famous and biggest ENT clinics in Germany. Its international reputation is based on the work of the "father of the ear microsurgery," Professor Horst Wullstein, who embodied the concept of clinic for treatment of head and neck diseases in 1970.

Thanks to the direct multifaceted cooperation between the heads of departments (in particular, the departments of otolaryngology, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, neurology, neuroradiology, and radiotherapy) for decades, there evolved the concept of optimal cooperation for treatment of patients. Besides the original direction of the main clinic, the middle ear surgeries, for which the patients come today to Wurzburg from all over Germany and from abroad, and all relevant areas of otolaryngology have also developed in the clinic in recent decades and meet the current standards of treatment. The example is the center of cochlear implantation, department of phoniatrics and pedaudiologii, department of allergy and sleep laboratory. The multidisciplinary treatment of patients includes all areas of skull base surgery (e.g., surgical treatment of acoustic neuroma), trauma (e.g., care of patients with severe midface injuries) and plastic reconstructive surgery (e.g., microvascular reconstruction of the larynx, trachea and esophagus).
