About the department
The Department of Adult and Pediatric Ophthalmology at the Academic Hospital Marien Duesseldorf offers the full range of surgical and conservative ophthalmology, including all types of laser procedures, treatment of tumors and skin lesions, eyelid deformities. Most operations are performed on an outpatient basis. The quality of all surgical interventions corresponds to the requirements of the international certificate TÜV ISO 9001: 2008. The department has two modern operating rooms and a station with 10 beds for inpatient treatment. The Chief Physician of the department is PD Dr. med. Babac Mazinani.
The department is focused on individual counseling and planning of surgical treatment, for example, in cataract, glaucoma, corneal transplantation, minimally invasive seamless interventions on the retina and vitreous, correction of eyelids and tear ducts, as well as on the treatment of macular degeneration and strabismus correction. At the center of the efforts of the department’s specialists is a person, whereas the every activity of the medical team is aimed at maintaining and improving the patient's vision, and, accordingly, his quality of life.
