About the department
The Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Asan Medical Center specializes in treating disorders related to endocrine organs such as pituitary glands, thyroid glands, pancreas and adrenal glands as well as functional disturbances of endocrine glands. The department is headed by Dr. Eun-hee Koh.
Main clinical areas of the department include diagnosis and treatment of patients with chronic adult diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and arteriosclerosis; for diagnosis and postoperative management of patients with thyroid dysfunction, thyroid nodule, and thyroid cancer; for diagnosis of osteoporotic patients and fracture prevention and treatment; and for rare endocrine and metabolic disorders.
Moreover, the department operates a diabetes screening room and diabetes lessons for patients’ lifestyle management to make sure that patients obtain a favorable outcome. It also concentrates on preventing recurrence of thyroid cancer and treating metastatic diseases.
In addition, a part of the department is the specialized Diabetes Center that collaborates with diabetes-related departments such as endocrinology and metabolism, ophthalmology, cardiology, and nephrology as well as the Foot Clinic.
