Mandatory histological examination of tissue samples provides accurate information about the type of tumor and allows planning an effective treatment.

The examination is followed by the determination of a risk group for each patient, which takes into account genetic predisposition (cases of gastrointestinal cancer in relatives), chronic and background diseases, individual factors. The patients from the high-risk group undergo regular endoscopic examinations and a blood test for specific tumor markers (CA 242, CA 19-9).
