About the department
The Department of Cardiology at the Cardiology Clinic Munich Nord Munich provides the full range of preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to patients with cardiovascular diseases. One of the priority focuses of the department’s team of doctors is preventive diagnostic examinations to exclude the risks of the development of heart pathologies. The medical facility offers comprehensive Check-up programs. The content of these programs varies depending on the age of the patient. For example, there is a special Check-up program for patients over 35 years of age and a Check-up program for patients over 50 years of age. The department is proud of its state-of-the-art equipment for electrocardiography, echocardiography, long-term ECG monitoring, cardiac computed tomography, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. The department's specialists have extensive experience in monitoring the function of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators and also successfully reprogram these devices. The department's physicians and nurses are committed to providing effective medical care in a friendly and comfortable environment.
The department is headed by PD Dr. med. Hans Ullrich Ebersberger. He graduated from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, one of the most prestigious higher educational institutions in Germany. The specialist has repeatedly trained abroad, in particular at King's College London, UK, and the Heart Center of the Medical University of South Carolina, USA. In addition to his successful clinical practice, Dr. Ebersberger is also active in research, as evidenced by his numerous publications in the online resource PubMed.
The majority of patients come to the department for cardiac diagnostics. Cardiologists offer all modern diagnostic procedures necessary to detect the slightest pathological changes in the function or structure of the organ. Resting electrocardiography, 24- or 48-hour cardiac Holter monitoring, exercise electrocardiography (ergometry), spiroergometry, heart rate variability analysis, resting and exercise echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound), cardiac computed tomography, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging are performed in the department's diagnostic rooms.
The department’s special offer is comprehensive preventive heart examinations. The medical facility offers special Check-up programs for patients under 35 years of age, over 35 years of age, and over 50 years of age, as well as an extensive Check-up program for elderly patients. Based on the diagnostic results, the department’s specialists determine cardiac risk factors and detect heart disease in its early stages, which greatly facilitates the therapeutic process. Depending on the diagnostic results, the cardiologist provides the patient with detailed recommendations for prevention or treatment during an individual consultation. First of all, the patient receives recommendations for lifestyle modification, including maintaining a healthy diet, regular physical activity, giving up bad habits, eliminating stressful situations as much as possible in everyday life, etc. If clinically indicated, a course of drug treatment may be prescribed.
The department's team of doctors is competent in the conservative treatment of coronary heart disease, heart failure, heart valve disease, arrhythmias (heart rhythm disturbances), cardiomyopathies, rheumatic heart disease, arterial hypertension, and other pathologies. Healthcare professionals provide drug therapy, combining anticoagulants, antihypertensive drugs, antiplatelet drugs, diuretics, beta blockers, and other medicines.
